A little behind-the-scenes look at our Coco Eco Magazine shoot focused on environmentally-conscious fashion.

Here I am prepping before my shoot with the VERY Style Guide. If you’re in London or Paris - pick up one of the latest (conveniently pocket-sized) copies, which highlights a lot of the cool shops, restaurants and hangouts in cities around the world. I was shooting for the New York City edition. They asked me to put together some of my favorite hangouts, which I was more than happy to do. And the team and I got to shoot a little video for you prior to the cover shoot with some behind-the-scenes action with my Schwinn, “backyard,” and all my own clothes. I got to sport my handmade hand-painted dress equipped with cockroach (yes I said cockroach) by an old design label called Yuma Topeka, organic jeans by Del Forte Denim, Charmone Shoes, and some great crocheted scarves by Projekt - a woman’s weaving project in South Africa.

I met up with my friend Fannie in Hong Kong, who encouraged me after much discussion, to go and visit a Page One bookstore to see if indeed my book, “Style, Naturally” was there. Not only was it there - it was right in the front of the bookstore! We caused quite a stir with passerbys and customers when we started to snap a few shots.

This came out in the South China Morning Post Sunday edition a few weeks later.

Kicking it in Williamsburg with Cassandra and Ninelle

“Meow!” Creatures of comfort: Nina is wearing a dress refurbished out of vintage fabric. I’m donning an orange bamboo tee by Lizzie Parker; a hemp-silk high-waisted skirt by Uluru; tagua nut necklace by Palma Collection; and horn rings by Linhardt Design. My shoes are cut off but I’m wearing some vegan Charmones. Bracelet is other photo is a.d. schwarz!!!

Just finishing a meal at Planet Thai - and LOVING Cassandra’s hairdo.

Look out for the new ecofashion rag, Peppermint Magazine in Australia. It’s got a cool indie vibe with lots of incredible features on environment, fashion and daily living. That’s me and the editor, Kelly, chilling outside of Greenfest in Brisbane. I’m eternally grateful because she facilitated my journey out there. For full interview/article you can click here.

This past Earth Day I launched zoe&zac - a collaboration between me and Payless - a series of more sustainable shoes using organic cottons, recycled rubber, EVA cushioning, hemp, linen and water-based glues. The first season sold super well and our second season is right around the corner. Best yet: the shoes and accessories are all under $30! Can’t wait to share with you how the brand will evolve, but in the meantime check out some behind-the-scenes footage below.
